I HAVE BEEN a citizen of Rome for the entire 48 years of my life and have recently relocated to the South Rome area. During my short six-month stay. I was recently informed by the Rome Police Department that a little pocket in the city of Rome is allowed to break a state and local law.

When I asked the police what could be done regarding the playing of loud music by car stereos or home entertainment systems, which at 500 yards were loud enough to shake my windows and rattle my eardrums, I was told, “Well, you live in South Rome, and that’s the ghetto and that’s what they do.”

I wonder what will be next. Is it possible that I or someone else could be murdered and nothing said or done? Are there really different laws for the South Rome area?

I would bet that the Rome police would react at the speed of light if these loud car radios would drive through Saddle Mountain or Horseleg Creek at 1am. Everyone knows that our legal and law enforcement system is designed to protect the rich.
