Three men were arrested following a drug raid Wednesday in Cedartown.

Arrested were Cedric Lawon Washington, 27, of 41 Wooten Road, Cedartown; and Franklin James Murphy II, 22, and Terrence Ramon Murphy, 20, both of 148 Janes St., Cedartown.

Cedartown police worked with the assistance of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office as well as federal agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

Local police and federal officials executed three search warrants Wednesday. Police served warrants at Washington’s Wooten Road residence and the Janes Street residence. Federal officials executed a federal arrest warrant for gun and drug charges on Washington.

Police said they found more than one ounce of suspected marijuana at the Janes Street residence and approximately a pound of marijuana at the Wooten Road residence.

Police said Washington’s children were taken into protective custody and placed in the care of the Department of Family and Children Services.

Police charged Washington with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

Franklin is charged with felony possession of tools for the commission of a crime and felony possession of marijuana. Terrence is charged with felony possession of tools for the commission of a crime and misdemeanor marijuana possession. Both Franklin and Terrence are charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute because officials found four separate bags of small amounts of marijuana, along with scales, in a container located on the seat of an automobile parked outside the Janes Street residence.

Cedartown police officials said they have been investigating Washington for the last two years.

As of Thursday, all three suspects remained in the Polk County Jail.
