The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority are hosting a free summer camp this week at three camp locations, including Fielder Recreation Center, Gilbreath Recreation Center and Shannon Recreation Center.

The RFPRA offers the free week-long camp this year as a service to the community and to help generate awareness of local camp offerings.

More than 150 children have registered for classes and enjoyed arts and crafts as well as indoor and outdoor games.

Campers also participated in activities like making origami crafts and scavenger hunts, and Keep Rome Beautiful spent an afternoon teaching kids about the benefits of trees and how to grow and care for trees. Camp participants also enjoyed a day of swimming at Northside Pool.

The free summer camp ends Friday, August 6, but summer camp continues at each location through July 30. Visit rfpra.com for additional camp information or contact Recreation Services Manager, Betsy Hampson at bhampson@rfpra.com or 706-291-0766.
