A Rome man was arrested Thursday after police said he injured his girlfriend and was also found in possession of suspected drugs.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Thomas Anthony Brooks, 26, of 206 East Fourth Ave., Apt. 4, was arrested by Rome police around 5:30 a.m. He was charged with simple battery and possession of marijuana.

Police said Brooks extinguished a cigarette on a woman’s forehead, causing a serious burn, and also choked her and pushed her through a doorway during an altercation. Officers said they discovered Brooks with a glass pipe in his possession during his arrest that had suspected marijuana residue inside it.

Brooks remains in jail without bail.
