The charity blood drive was sponsored by the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office in honor of Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, who has a rare form of cancer of the blood. ““He’s a good mentor and a good example to a lot of new sheriffs in our area, and he’s such a great wfellow, too,” Floyd County Sheriff Tim Burkhalter said. The drive, which was open to any prospective donor 18 years old and older, was hosted Blood Assurance. T-shirts, snacks and drinks were available for donors who were also able to register to win a John Deere riding lawnmower.
