Mr. and Mrs. Collis Dale Boyd of Rome announce the engagement of their granddaughter Racheal Nicole Boyd to James Hunter Harper, son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Dwight Harper of Gadsden, Ala. Boyd is the daughter of the late Richard Dwayne Boyd.

Miss Boyd is a 2003 graduate of Rome High School and a 2009 graduate of Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She was an active member of the Baptist Campus Ministries and a member of the JSU rugby team. She is employed as a nurse at RMC in Anniston, Ala., and currently lives in Jacksonville, Ala.

Harper is a 2008 honor graduate of Westbrook Christian School in Gadsden. He played varsity baseball and football and was a member of the Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta. He attended Jacksonville State University. He currently lives in Jacksonville, and is employed at Sodexo in Jacksonville.

The groom-elect is the brother of Emily Ann Howell of Tuscaloosa, Ala. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gass of Chelsea, Ala., Diz Harper of Holly Pond, Ala. and the late Gail Harper. 

The wedding ceremony is planned for Monday, June 21, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. A reception will follow at the Jacksonville State University Alumni House.
