Robbery of Favorite Market on North Broad caught on tape.
Investigators are asking for help from the community in identifying a suspect in Saturday’s robbery of the Favorite Market on North Broad Street.

Detective Joe Costolnick of the Rome Police Department said so far the only lead on the case has turned up dry since a possible suspect was in police custody at the time.

“The guy we were looking at had stolen some beer out of the cooler a month earlier,” he said.

Costolnick said that at the moment no new information has come to light to help them solve the case.

“We’re hoping that anyone who might have heard him talking about it or who might know the suspect will call us,” he said.

Police reports stated that the suspect, who at the time was described wearing a black jacket with a grey hooded sweatshirt and a mask on, was also wearing gloves at the time of the robbery.

He was last seen after taking $85 from the store at gunpoint on Tolbert Street near the store. Police were unable to locate him after a search of the area.

The same convenience store was also robbed on Aug. 11.

To phone in with tips or any other information, Costolnick can be reached at the Rome Police Department at 706-238-5128.
