UPDATE: Police are still searching for a man who used a gun to rob the Favorite Market convenience store at 2000 North Broad St. on Saturday night.

According to Nic Vaughn of the Rome Police Department, the suspect left the store on foot and was last seen on Tolbert Street near the rear of the store. The subject was a male wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and had a black mask. He was reportedly armed with a 9-mm pistol.

Reports on the robbery later stated that the clerk at the store saw the man enter, walk down an aisle and produce an automatic handgun. He then demanded all the money in the register, totaling $80.

Police were unable to locate the suspect, but were able to recover $8 in the area around Tolbert Street. Rome police detectives said on Sunday that investigators are looking into the case this week.

The same convenience store was robbed on Aug. 11.
