Floyd and Mary Ozment of Rome recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception held at Beech Creek United Methodist Church hosted by their sons and daughters-in-law, Reginald and Amy Ozment and Daniel and Sharon Ozment.

The two were married on July 19, 1959, in Atlanta at the home of the groom’s brother, Dr. Robert V. Ozment. The couple first met while attending Coosa High School.

Mary Ozment is the former Mary Wadsworth. She graduated from Coosa High School. She worked for Miller Brothers on Broad Street for four years and at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pacific Grove, Calif., for one year. She spent many years as a stay-at-home mother and housewife. She also worked 20 years as manager of Ozment Antique Gallery.

Mr. Ozment graduated from Coosa High School and attended Young Harris College and West Georgia College. He spent two years in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Ord, Calif. He was part-owner and operator of Garden Lakes Service Station and Ozment Lawn and Tractor.

They have two sons, Reginald Ozment of Rome and Daniel Ozment of Dallas.

They have three grandchildren.

The Ozments are active members of Beech Creek United Methodist Church.

The couple enjoys traveling with friends and spending time with their sons and granddaughters.

Especially happy times during their marriage were the births of their sons and granddaughters.

They say the secret to a successful marriage is faith in God and in each other.
