Scottie Hooper (center) is the 2008-2009 winner of the National Creative Society’s “Ferne Gibson Scholarship in the Performing Arts.” Standing at his side are Ferne Gibson (left) and his aunt, Scarlene Hebard. Scottie was a member of the National Creative Society chapter at Pepperell High School. He performed with the Pepperell Band and The Northwest Georgia Winds as a clarinetist. He will continue his post-secondary studies in music and business at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala. The scholarship is named in honor of educator and administrator Ferne Gibson, who is an early founder and first executive director of the National Creative Society
