CALHOUN -- Floyd Medical Center should maintain control of three ambulance zones in Rome, the Region 1 EMS Council ruled today during a meeting in Calhoun.

Redmond Regional Medical Center had asked to take over the Coosa, West Rome and Garden Lakes zones from FMC after concerns surfaced about FMC’s ambulance service. Redmond did not withdraw that request but representatives recommended that to the council's transportation committee in June that the zones stay as they are.
