ATLANTA — Leanne Maule of Cartersville High School was one of 10 finalists named by State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox for the 2009 Georgia Teacher of the Year.

The finalists were chosen from a statewide pool of 141 applicants who were selected from their school districts.

The winner will be announced at the Georgia Teacher of the Year banquet at the Georgia Aquarium on May 9. The winner will spend the next school year traveling around Georgia and the nation serving as an ambassador for teaching, will be entered in the National Teacher of the Year competition and will serve on the superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council.
