An expansion of the Hawthorn Suites Hotel could now include condominiums.

Developer Ira Levy said Thursday he will present a feasibility study for the idea to the Rome-Floyd Planning Commission and the Historic Preservation Commission at their upcoming meetings, Feb. 7 and Feb. 20, respectively.

Battey Downtown LLC, an investment group that includes Levy, won approval of a six-story addition to Hawthorn Suites between the existing West Second Avenue hotel and a 380-space parking deck to be built between the hotel and The Forum.

Levy said the plan later was altered to five stories, but he’s now taking a look at going back to six stories, with two stories of condominiums.
