The transportation committee of the Region 1 EMS Council is scheduled to meet Feb. 12 to discuss a zone change request from Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Redmond submitted a letter Jan. 4 to David Loftin, Region 1 EMS director, asking to “provide assistance in covering Floyd Medical Center’s ambulance zone commitment.” Redmond is requesting to be considered for the Coosa, West Rome and Garden Lakes zones.

In a meeting earlier this month, the council forwarded the request to its transportation committee for consideration.

According to Loftin, February's meeting will include representatives from both Redmond and Floyd. Issues to be examined include staffing, rollover and what is best for public welfare.
