Two illegal immigrants will be deported after they serve federal prison terms after being sentenced Thursday.

In separate cases, Carlos Garcia Rodriguez, who resided in Floyd County, and Jose Baez Ramirez, of Whitfield County, were sentenced.

In May, Rodriguez was discovered by Rockmart police to be in possession a concealed gun. He admitted his crime to immigrations officials during questioning and said he paid a smuggler to bring him from Mexico to the U.S. in 2005.

He was sentenced to serve 15 months before being deported.

Ramirez admitted his part in a Dalton-based criminal enterprise to manufacture fake birth certificates and residency cards. He will serve 2 years, 10 months in prison before deportation.
