The Rome Braves have work to do tonight if they want to avoid losing their first series of the year.

Jario Cuevas surrendered five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Sunday afternoon, propelling the Augusta GreenJackets to a 6-1 victory at Lake Olmsted Stadium.

After splitting a Saturday doubleheader with the Braves, Augusta will try for the series victory tonight at 7:05 p.m. Rome has won all but one series in 2006, with a 2-2 split in Savannah also in the mix.

Kala Ka’aihue scored Rome’s only run in the top of the sixth. He later had a double, as did Maximilliano Ramirez, who went 3-for-5.

The Braves’ downfall was a lack of timely hitting. Rome had 11 hits, but stranded 17 runners.
