Floyd County authorities charged a man with aggravated assault on a police officer Sunday after he tried to back over the officer following a wreck, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Miquel Lopez Gonzalez, 23, no address available, was in jail with no bail set, also charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police and driving without a license.

Shortly after noon Sunday, Floyd County police Sgt. George Lemming saw Gonzalez’s car weaving on the roadway on the bypass at Turner Chapel Road. When Lemming tried to stop him, Gonzalez sped away only to hit the guardrail. When Lemming approached his vehicle, Gonzalez attempted to back over him.
