The National Weather Service has issued a special storm alert, concerned about chances for light snow and flurries tonight in North Georgia and Northeast Georgia.

Areas to the north of a line from Rome to Helen could see the white stuff as temperatures cool this evening. Accumulations of less than an inch are possible in higher elevations.

Also, the weather service warns of the potential for some ice on roads in North Georgia.

The forecast for the rest of the weekend:

Tonight. Cloudy. Patchy drizzle this evening. Then a chance of flurries after midnight. Lows in the lower 30s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday. Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 40s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday night. Clear. Lows in the upper 20s. Northwest winds around 10 mph in the evening then becoming light.

Sunday. Sunny. Highs in the lower 50s. Light and variable winds.
