Authorities say the person was found dead inside the apartment on Ashton Woods Way after it caught fire Monday afternoon.
The Daily Citizen of Dalton reports that Dalton police and firefighters were called to the blaze around 3:38 p.m. Monday.
WRCB-TV reports that the fire began in the living room and appears to be accidental.
The name of the victim was being withheld until next of kin are notified.
Dalton is about 30 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tenn.
