Today, in a new scorecard released by Heritage Action, grassroots organization of top conservative think tank Heritage Foundation, U.S. Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) was ranked first in the Georgia Congressional delegation for his record in the 112th Congress. Rep. Graves’ score of 97 percent also tied him for first in the U.S. House of Representatives.

By scoring above 90 percent, Rep. Graves was one of just 23 House members to earn Sentinel status with Heritage.

In Heritage Action’s press release, CEO Michael Needham said, “We congratulate these Sentinels who stood guard, vigilantly protecting our freedoms during the 112th Congress. Not only did they advance the conservative cause, but they also held back the incessant tide of tax increases, out-of-control spending, and harmful policies that breed dependency on government. In Washington, this is no easy task, which makes these Members all the more commendable.”

The press release goes on to describe the scorecard as revealing “which lawmakers talk like a conservative and which ones act like a conservative.”

The problem with this rating is that the method used to rate these folks evidently uses a definition of "conservative" (whatever that means any more) instead of how faithful they are to the Constitution. Using that measure he would not rate nearly as high. Of course in fairness to the Congressman, neither would most of his "conservative" peers. The litmus test should be the Constitution, not some ever changing definition of "conservative."

Graves looks out for himself first. "out-of-control spending, and harmful policies that breed dependency on government"...did these people look at anything about Graves, the person? How about his "backdoor" method of soaking us working taxpayers. He talks about saving the taxpayer while at the time he is soaking us, along with his business partner Chips Rogers who is now making $150,000 after his appointment to a sweetheart job at GPB by Governor Shady Deal.
