The City of Rome and Floyd County are planning a dedication and ribbon cutting for the new Rome / Floyd County Fire Department Administration & Fire Prevention Office and Emergency Management Office and Operations Center.

The ribbon cutting will take place in a public ceremony on Wednesday, January 30 at 11:00am. The new facility is located at 411 East 12th Street.

The new, state-of-the-art facility was constructed through a $4 million earmark in the 2009 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. The building is shared by two public entities: the Rome/Floyd County Fire Department and the Emergency Management Office of Floyd County. The City of Rome and Floyd County jointly operate the center.

The new facility will be showcased by local elected officials and community leaders during the dedication. Public tours of the facility will be offered following the ribbon cutting.
