DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — DeKalb County officials have announced Xernona Clayton will be the keynote speaker at the county's Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.

The theme of the celebration is "Female Pioneers of the Civil Rights Movement." Clayton is the founder, president and CEO of the Trumpet Awards Foundation, and is known as a leader in the civil rights arena.

County officials say this year's celebration marks the 29th consecutive year DeKalb County will host the event — which was planned by county employees.

The celebration is set for Jan. 18 and will begin at 11 a.m. at the Maloof Center Auditorium in Decatur.
