A 41-year-old Summerville man died after being shot in the stomach with a semi-automatic pistol around 5 p.m., Tuesday.

The victim is John Evern D. England III, who died at a Floyd County hospital. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, according to Chattooga Sheriff Mark Schrader.

Around 10 p.m., the sheriff, investigators and the GBI were beginning to talk with a person they think is connected with the shooting -- Justin Lee Long, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama. Authorities, however, are not 100-percent sure that's the correct name of the person they are questioning.
