Armuchee High School has been selected to receive a 2012 Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award for the school community's superior efforts at displaying good sportsmanship over the past year.

The Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (GEMC) presents the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award to honor Georgia High School Association (GHSA) schools that exhibit exemplary sportsmanship during competitive events. Armuchee High School joins 37 other GHSA schools across the state this year to receive the sportsmanship distinction.

Georgia's EMCs have sponsored GHSA championship events for the past 13 years. The Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Awards program was introduced in 2006 as a means for GHSA and GEMC to work together in promoting sportsmanship in Georgia. The principles of the award stress concern for community and cooperation in athletics and in life.

Selected by GHSA region secretaries, the Cooperative Spirit Sportsmanship Award honors sportsmanship demonstrated by athletes, students, parents, coaches and spectators.
