A Rome man remained in jail on Sunday night, Dec. 30, after he allegedly hit a woman in front of two children and had drugs in his possession across the guard line, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Brandon Shane Coker, 24, of 31 Althea Drive, hit a woman in her face leaving visible marks during an argument. He also pushed another person down and punched a window in the front door of the residence, breaking the pane.

Coker cut the cable lines leading to the house. The entire incident happened in the presence of two children.

As Coker was being booked into the Floyd County Jail, officers found a small bag of suspected marijuana in his pants pocket.

He was charged with a felony count of possession of drugs past the guard line, and two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, two counts of criminal trespass and two counts of simple battery under the Family Violence Act, all misdemeanors.

He was being held without bond.
