CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities have identified the people who died when a semitrailer smashed into a concrete support pillar on Interstate 75 as three Georgia men.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says a northbound semi driven by George Benjamin White of Hiram struck a guardrail, then the support pillar and caught fire early Wednesday morning in Bartow County.

Wright tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the sign fell onto the southbound lanes and was struck by a southbound semi driven by 58-year-old Hugh Bruce Duling III of Powder Springs.

Both truck drivers died, along with White's passenger, 36-year-old Jermaine Duriel Smith of Douglasville.

My prayers go out to the White Family. George's smile and kindness will not be forgotten. He will truly be missed at Oasis Family Life Church and in the Paulding County community.
