As the days countdown to Christmas eve, The Salvation Army stays busy hosting kettles. With just seven days left, fundraising through kettles, we are 76 percent towards our goal.

Money raised during the Christmas season helps provide and support services in Floyd, Chattooga, and Polk counties throughout the year. Last year alone, The Salvation Army in the greater Rome, area served over 14,000 meals in our community dining room, gave out 900 food orders, helped with over $42,000 in utility/rent/prescription assistance, sent 27 local children to summer camp, and provided 1,400 nights of stay to area homeless in our Emergency Shelter.

“I am proud and delighted to be a small part of such a big campaign,” said Salvation Army representatives Paula Blevins. “The Salvation Army for so many years has done tremendous work. I’ve been honored to be involved in the past as a member of the church and serving our fellow neighbors in need. With everything going on right now and with so many people in need, The Salvation Army really stands in the breach to provide assistance all year long.”

For over 120 years, The Salvation Army has kicked off the Christmas Season with red kettles and bell ringers. “With the kettle kick off and the wonderful generosity of the citizens of the greater Rome, GA area, we look forward to brightening the lives of our neighbors,” said Salvation Army Captain Douglas McClure. “We are thankful for our board members, corporate partners, our employees and especially our volunteers for their service.”

Kettles will be out in the greater Rome, GA area through December 24. Every dollar makes a difference. Be a Shield by dropping money into the kettle and helping those in need in the greater Rome, GA area. You can also donate online at www.onlineredkettle.org/tsarome.
