Rome-based River City Bank has developed RCB Kids, a website dedicated to teaching children about money, how to earn it and how to handle it.

The site offers youngsters an opportunity to use games with crafts and tools to help them learn how to use money correctly. Children have the chance to examine the anatomy of a check, dissect each detail of a 100-dollar bill, and understand the nuances of debit and credit cards.

Using the Savings Calculator, a kid can put in the amount of their allowance to help them plan how to save up enough money for that special baseball glove or Barbie doll.

While they’re learning principles of fiscal soundness, kids can print out coloring pages, decorate their River City Bank piggy banks, and play online games all related to money.

Much of the website’s artwork was developed by Rome artist Kevin Jones, including an illustration of River City Bank, the Clocktower, and the confluence of the Oostanaula, Etowah and Coosa rivers.

“Our company is invested in this community, and for us that means more than just our customers at River City. With the new RCB Kids site, we’ve created a fun online space for community kids to safely learn the money management skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives,” said River City President and CEO Roger F. Smith.

The site can be accessed by visiting RiverCityBankOnline.com and clicking on the Kids Corner button.
