Lee Jennings, managing partner of RL Jennings & Associates, PC CPAs, is answering the questions for this week’s Small Business Snapshot.

What is the primary purpose of your business? We are a full service accounting and consulting firm. We provide audit, accounting, tax and consulting services to small businesses, individuals, large businesses, governments, banks and nonprofits.

What is the business background of the owners? 27 years of public and private accounting.

Why did you start (or purchase) this particular business? I saw a need for a customer service-based approach to the industry, where clients are people and not just numbers.

What makes your business unique? We remember that the customer comes first, and we are here to serve them. We pride ourselves on being available to clients when they need us. We are as close as an email, text or phone call away.

What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? Helping people and businesses overcome their various financial issues and business-related problems.

What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner? The biggest challenge is the constantly changing business environment. The new laws and regulations coming out of Washington and Atlanta make it difficult to stay abreast of the rules and continue to grow.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? Never ever give up. A wise man once told me, just hang in there. Our forefathers suffered and died so that we could have what we have today, so we must continue to strive to overcome and move forward as there is always hope. We are hosting an open house Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. We will have a variety of door prizes including a two-night trip for two at a choice of destinations, including Savannah; Panama City Beach, Fla.; Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge or Nashville, Tenn.; and Myrtle Beach, S.C.
