A 12-year-old female from Louisiana was found in Cartersville on Monday and a male subject allegedly involved in her disappearance was arrested, according to Cartersville police.

Chief Thomas Culpepper said the juvenile was listed as a runaway by local law enforcement officials in Louisiana and had been missing since late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

The investigation revealed that, Brett Robert Burke, 22, of Michigan, and the female juvenile had known each other through the Internet and were believed to be in the Cartersville area.

Burke traveled to Louisiana on Saturday and either late that night or in the early hours of Sunday morning brought the juvenile back to Cartersville.

Burke was charged with aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, and interference with child custody.
