The Atlanta woman who police say was the catalyst for a three-car wreck on the East Rome Bypass last week was officially charged with the death of a Floyd County woman, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the reports:

Aprile Nichelle Gales, 27, of 2883 Hedgewood Drive, Atlanta, was taken into custody Thursday at Floyd Medical Center and charged with misdemeanor second-degree homicide by a vehicle and failure to maintain lane.

Gales was the driver of a 2006 GMC van that crossed the median of the bypass on Nov. 6 and into the path of a vehicle driven by Brook Michelle Anthony of Armuchee and another vehicle driven by Nina Nelson of Rome. Anthony later died at Floyd Medical Center from multiple, massive traumas.

Gales was released Thursday on $2,600 bond.
