Coosa cross-country team wins region title

The Coosa High Lady Eagles cross-country team won a region championship title for the third year in a row Thursday evening at the Region 7-AA meet at Georgia Highlands College. The team was led by sisters, Alena and Kirstin Holmes, both placed in the top 6 in the competition and received medals for their achievements. "Coosa High School is very proud of the accomplishments of this team and their success over the last few years," stated Candi Cole, coach of the team. "We are very excited for these young ladies because they have put in a lot of hard work this year!"

The team also has another successful sister combo in twins Elizabeth and Rebecca Mullenax. The two are senior leaders on the team. Overall, The Coosa team finished in the top 11 out of 35 total runners. The girls will now prepare for the State Meet to be held in Carrolton next Saturday. Cole added, "We plan to put in long hours next week to up our workouts and prepare ourselves for the competition."
