How it happened:

The Braves jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the third inning. Greenville scored two runs in the eighth, but the Braves were able to hold on for the win.

Who did what for Rome: Kyle Kubitza was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, Ross Heffley hit a home run and had two runs scored, and Elmer Reyes, Cory Brownsten, Robby Hefflinger and Fernando De Los Santos each had one hit.

On the mound: Greg Ross earned the win to improve to 5-8 on the season. He pitched 7 1-3 innings, gave up three hits, one earned run and struck out eight.

Game notes: The Rome Braves now own a 3½ game lead over Asheville and Lexington in the Southern Division of the South Atlantic League Standings.
