MACON AND BIBB COUNTY are going to consolidate into a single local government. It will be headed by an elected mayor and nine council members … once they get all the details, such as where City Hall will be, ironed out. The voters there decided to become one in this election.

According to newspaper reports there, this is the culmination of some 90 years of talking and trying to get to this point.

Maybe that means there is hope for Rome/Floyd consolidation yet. After all, that’s only been a consistent topic in these parts for a mere 30 years or so.

The 2072 election in Greater Rome should prove very interesting …
