Mrs. Lindsey Turner Corpening
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pierce Turner Jr. of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pierce Turner Sr. of Villa Rica, William R. DeLano of Rome and the late Mary Elizbeth DeLano.
The groom is the son of Bishop Robert and Benita Dixon of Wildwood, Fla. He is the grandson of Mrs. Johnnie Wells of Ashpabula, Ohio and the godson of Jim and Ruth Bruce of Umatilla, Fla.
The groom’s father performed the double-ring ceremony under an antique wrought iron arbor adorned with sprengeri fern, blush roses, delphinium and curly willow. The arbor was placed lakeside in front of a waterfall and was surrounded by natural greenery. The couple participated in a hand-washing ceremony featuring an antique cut crystal depression glass bowl provided by the bride’s grandfather, William R. DeLano. The couple also participated in a sand ceremony.
A program of wedding music included “Ode to Joy” and “The Wedding Song,” “Biggest Part of Me,” and “Pure Love.” After the ceremony, guests were entertained by the bride and groom singing an original song, “Joy,” composed by the groom.
Rebecca Turner, sister of the bride, of Rome, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kalee Cruz of Jacksonville, Ark., Mary Armistead of Albany, N.Y., and Natalie Grooms of Rome. They were attired in full length sleeveless peacock blue V-necked dresses featuring a fitted, rouched bodice and a slim skirt. The dresses were accented with crstal leaf pins, gifts from the bride. Attendants carried loosely gathered bunches of sprengeri ferns, blush roses, bear grass and delphinium wrapped with peacock blue ribbon at the stems.
The bride, giving in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, was attired in an allover lace A-line halter dress with beaded embroidery featuring an empire waist and a split fron with a sweep train. Her elbow length veil was edged with beaded embroidery, pearls and sparkes and was held in place by a pearl and crystal comb. The bride’s bouquet featured blush and ivory roses, blue delphinium and knotted bear grass. Her bouquet was hand-tied with ivory sild ribbon and featured a pearl and filigree enhanced hat pin worn by her late grandmother Mary DeLano.
The best man was Theron Polite, brother of the groom. Other groomsmen included Chad Culbreth, Jacob Dotsie and C.J. Kimbrough of Rome. They wore black tuxedoes with ivory shirts complemented by rose and delphinium boutonnieres.
The mother of the bride wore a full-length steel blue chiffon tiered dress featuring flutter sleeves. The groom’s mother chose a platinum satin spaghetti strapped dress with a platinum and beaded crocheted poncho. Both mother wore cymbidium orchids tied with ivory satin ribbon.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted an outdoor reception lakeside. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tiered white cake with lemon and raspberry filling. The tiers were iced with ivory cream cheese icing featuring scroll work and beading matching the bride’s dress. The caked was topped with fresh flowers. The groom’s cake, made as a gift by Patti Wells, was a double layer chocolate oreo cake iced with chocolate icing and oreo crumbs.
Before the wedding, an engagement dinner shower was hosted by Mr. and Mr.s David Dempsey, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kane, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Steele, Mr. and Mr.s Gary Schlenk, and Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell at the Dempsey home. A miscellaneous shower was hosted at Bella Roma by Betty Cooper and Mary Alice Ray of Rome and Margaret Dobbs of Smyrna. A kitchen shower held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Johnston was the choice of Sue Johnston, Jean Eans and Kim Hall. A bridesmaids luncheon at La Marie’s on Broad Street was hosted by Pat Kelly and Burnese Harper, both of Rome. A bachelorette party was hosted by the bridesmaids in Atlanta while the groomsmen celebrated in Rome. The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a Mexican fiesta on the outdoor porch lakeside at Belle Terra.
After a honeymoon cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, the couple resides in Rome.
