Two drivers were treated and released from Floyd Medical Center on Tuesday evening, a hospital spokeswoman said, after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Riverside Parkway at the State Mutual Stadium on Tuesday morning at approximately 9 a.m., according to Rome police officers Ron George and James Manning.

According to police:

Carl Hornsby, 73, of White, was driving a black Hyundai Sonata east on Veterans Memorial Parkway when he ran a red light and struck the driver’s side of a white Ford F-250 Parks and Recreation truck driven by Nathan Thompson, 27, of Trion, who was pulling into the parking lot of the stadium. Hornsby also struck and knocked down a pedestrian crosswalk pole.

Both Hornsby and Thompson complained of neck and back pain and were transported to Floyd Medical Center. Several inmates were in the vehicle with Thompson and were also transported to check for injuries.
