Several pieces of lawn equipment were stolen from a truck while its driver mowed a lawn nearby on Tolbert Street on Monday afternoon, according to a Rome police report.

According to the report:

The theft occurred when a car at a gas station at 2000 North Broad St. had finished pumping and the four occupants of the vehicle pulled up alongside the parked truck.

One occupant exited the vehicle, grabbed the items and got back into the car that then drove off, according to a witness. Police are investigating.

The items were worth $1,000 and included an orange pack back blower, a black weed eater and a 24-inch red hedge trimmer.
