Footage for a new TV episode of “Combat Tech” for the Military Channel was filmed Friday, July 13, in Cave Spring starring a local resident.

A producer and director of photography for the show came out to interview resident Eric Haney, a retired member of the United States Army counterterrorist unit, the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1SFOD-D), also known as Delta Force.

Haney will serve as an expert source for the episode that will focus on weaponry for the special operations forces and tactics.

The interview was conducted in front of a green screen with portable studio lights in the Haney dining room.

“Combat Tech” is a limited series which has aired three episodes so far on the Military Channel. Haney’s episode is expected to run in the fall.

Haney, a North Georgia native, is the author of “Inside Delta Force,” a memoir about his time in the elite unit.

He was a co-executive producer of the CBS television series “The Unit,” created by David Mamet and inspired by Haney’s special operations experiences. Previously, Haney was a technical consultant on Mamet’s 2004 film “Spartan,” starring Val Kilmer.
