Dailey and Mae Bearden of Rome recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family at their home. 

They were married July 13, 1942, at the home of Sheila Williams, local Justice of the Peace. Mrs. Bearden, the former Atrice Mae Gilmore, is a native of Rome. She is a homemaker and enjoys gardening, canning and tending to her flowers. 

Dailey Bearden, also a native of Rome, is a veteran of World War II and retired from Fairbanks Company after many years of service. He enjoys gardening and fishing. 

The couple has four children, Robert Bearden, Rita Garrison and Reatha Dowdy, all of Rome, and the late Johnny Bearden. They have eight grandchildren including the late Reatha Michelle Bearden, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

The Beardens credit their successful marriage to their strong Christian faith, their love for one another and the love of their family.
