Deborah Balmer of Noyan, Quebec, Canada, and Robin P. King of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, announce the engagement of their daughter, Tannika King, to Adam Wester, the son of Laura Lindman Adams of Rome and John W. Wester of Hamlet, N.C.

Miss King is a 1998 high honor graduate of Rome High School and a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of Berry College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. She is employed as the director of media relations at Darlington School.

The bride-elect is the stepdaughter of Jean Plamondon of Noyan and the stepsister of Tania Plamondon of Rougemont, Quebec; Patrick Plamondon of Pointe-Claire, Quebec; and Alex Plamondon of Noyan. She is the granddaughter of Lawanna Mobley Balmer of Flowery Branch, and the late Spencer E. Balmer, as well as Lois King-Ford and George Ford of Edmonton.

Wester attended Armuchee High School and earned his Journeyman Wireman Certificate from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 2011. He also holds a Class II Unrestricted Electrical Contractors License. He is employed as a foreman at Mayberry Electric Inc. in Atlanta.

The groom-elect is the brother of Lindman Josephine “Lindy” Adams of Rome. He is the grandson of Sue Camp Adams of Rome and the late John W. Adams, as well as the late Lucy Burkhalter Wester and John W. Wester Sr. of Athens.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 20, at Darlington School’s Morris Chapel. A reception will follow at the Rome Area History Museum. Formal invitations will be sent.
