Camp GoodTimes, a summer day camp for special needs children in Rome-Floyd County, has just received a generous donation of $4,000 from Auto Max Rent-A-Car Inc.

The funds were raised by employees of Auto Max Rent- A-Car who donated throughout the year to their employee fund. Auto Max Rent-A-Car matched the employee’s donations.

“All of us here at Auto Max Rent-A-Car are so thrilled that our donation will help support Camp GoodTimes.” says Regional Vice-President, Corey Rhodes. “We love this community and are happy to support this invaluable program.”

The camp provides special needs children opportunities to develop friendships through activities that build confidence and independence in a positive environment. The three-week camp also offers respite for care givers who typically never get a break.

Funding for Camp GoodTimes was down by 60 percent last year and has been operating on reserves for the last two years. Camp director, Tammy Bryant, says: “With reserves drying up, we are so thankful to receive this donation from Auto Max Rent-A-Car. Many families cannot afford the cost of camp so we rely on donations. We are still in need of funds and welcome donations.”

If individuals or businesses would like to sponsor a special needs child, the fee is $85 to sponsor a child for one week. For more information or to make a donation, please call 706.234.0383.
