Leonard and Alvadine Buffington of Rome celebrated their 50th aniversary on Saturday,June 23 with a reception at Antioch Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, hosted by their children.

They were married by Rev. John House at Mt.Tabor Methodist Church in Everett Springs on June 23, 1962.

Mr. Buffington grew up in Big Texas Valley and graduated from Armuchee High School in 1959. He retired from Atlanta Gas Light Co. after 30 years of service. He also shod horses

for more than 30 years and still does occasionally. After retirement he built houses for a while. He also helps his son, Jason in his business when needed.

Mrs. Buffington is the former Alvadine Bridges and grew up in Rosedale. She graduated from Armuchee High School in 1960. She worked at First National Bank (now SunTrust

Bank) for 26 years. She is currently employed at Wells Fargo Advisors.

They have a daughter, Lori Hays of Centre, Ala. and a son, Jason Eric Buffington of Big Texas Valley. They have 3 grandsons.

Mr. and Mrs. Buffington are members of Antioch Baptist Church in Big Texas Valley.

Mr. Buffington enjoys gardening, horses, hunting and fishing. Mrs. Buffington enjoys time with her work family, cooking, her flowers and attending all of her grandsons’ activities.

Especially happy times in their marriage were the births of their daughter and son and their 3 grandsons.

The secret to their successful marriage is trust in God and love and trust in each other.
