Rome Braves edged by RiverDogs on road

In what turned out to be their season opener after their first game of the season was postponed due to rain, the Rome Braves were held scoreless in a 1-0 loss to the Charleston RiverDogs.

The score was tied 0-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when the RiverDogs scored their only run of the game.

Kelvin De Leon homered to left field to give the RiverDogs (1-0) the lead.

The Braves (0-1) had only one hit in the game. William Beckwith hit a single in the top of the fifth.

On the mound, the Braves used two pitchers against the RiverDogs. David Filak (0-1) took the loss.

He threw for six innings, gave up five hits, walked one and had seven strikeouts.

Jean Carlos Gil pitched the final two innings in relief. He gave up one hit and struck out four.

Jose Campos (1-0) earned the win for Charleston.

The Braves continue their series against the RiverDogs tonight at 7:05 p.m.
