The Jake Puryear Detachment No. 1020 Marine Corps League will meet today at the Rome-Floyd County Library. There will be coffee, doughnuts and camaraderie from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and the business meeting will be from 10 to 11 a.m. The program will feature Arle Rens, a Naval aviator, who was the pilot for the Commandant’s Gulf Stream. He was also a USMC KC-130 pilot and commander in Mogadishu. After retirement he became the demonstration pilot for Lockheed for the C‑130J, which has a whole new weapons system. The Seekers of Rome are hosting the first annual ride for the William S. Davies Homeless Shelter today. The cost is $20 per rider, which includes lunch catered by Outta Bounds Sports Bar & Grille.
