NOW THAT the news about the homecoming parade for Georgia service men and women has been announced, it’s time to mark June 16 on calendars across the state

A very special celebration is being planned in Rome for our Georgia Iraq service members of all branches and their families on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

“Georgia Celebrates Iraq Veterans and Their Families” will mark the official end of the Iraq War, and now it is time to express our deep gratitude and appreciation as Georgians and as communities to those who served our country and to the families of these brave service members.

This celebration is our time to show them that as Americans we owe our freedom to those that served when called. Service members from all over our communities left their homes and families to answer that call. Some never came home and gave the ultimate sacrifice, and we will honor them and their families. The families served too; most of the time in silence, unknown within our communities. They took on and met the mission to take care of the home and family.

This celebration is for everyone to come and honor the greatest service members in the world! So please plan to join with other Georgians and veterans to show these heroes how very grateful we are for their service.
