Yet another Mapco convenience store, this one at 200 N. Broad St., has closed its doors.

The same scenario that played out at the intersection of Highway 53 and 140 occurred at the North Rome location. Tennessee-based Mapco declined to renew its lease with Larry Martin Real Estate.

John Ivester, a broker for Martin, confirmed late Tuesday that Ricky Singh has signed a five-year lease with a five-year option for the North Broad Street location, which will be operated as a Hi-Tech station when it re-opens in several weeks.

Ivester said that painting to reflect the brand change should get under way this week.

“I just feel like this is another good opportunity,” Singh said.

He is hoping to open the store at 53 and 140 sometime next week and expects to open the North Broad store early in March.

Singh also owns Rome Liquor and Tobacco, at 600 E. Second Ave., and Rick’s Little Garden, 1901 Dean Ave.
