Smoke detected Monday afternoon in Cedartown was likely from a fire in eastern Alabama, according to the Georgia Forestry Commission.

No burn permits had been issued for Monday, and the fire department was unaware of any blaze in the county.

The prevailing winds were from west to east, according to the GFC.

A spokesman from the GFC was unable to provide a location of the Alabama blaze.
