Shawn Powell’s college football career ended on a fitting note — with the former Darlington star delivering a solid perforance in the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg.

Suiting up for the East team in Saturday’s game, Powell, who plays for Florida State, punted five times and averaged 43.8 yards per kick.

One of his punts went for 57 yards during the showcase game, which saw the West all-stars defeated the East, 24-17, at Tropicana Field.

Georgia kicker Blair Walsh made a 28-yard field goal for the East squad in the first quarter.

Powell, who led the nation in punting this season with an average of 47 yards per kick, will attend the NFL combine in the next few weeks, with hopes of being drafted. Powell plans to train with several current NFL players in the weeks ahead.

Powell was a FBS consensus All-American this year after his outstanding senior season with the Seminoles.

For his career, Powell averaged 44.1 yards per punt — which established a school record at Flordia State.
