As many as 70 people with accounts at several banks in Walker County have reported fraudulent transactions in recent days, Walker County sheriff Steve Wilson said.

One of the possible origins being looked at, the sheriff said, is the company that manufacturers credit cards for several of the banks, he said.

Customers who have reported the fraud are being issued new cards and will not be responsible for the fraudulent purchases.

Customers should report any fraud on their accounts.
