Andy Kellogg, Nick Newborn, Michael Ozment, Steven Powell and Sam Robison, along with fullback Kenny Foster, were named to the BSN weekly honor roll after a dominating performance in a 42-16 win over Union (Ky.) last Saturday in Barbourville, Ky.
It is the first such honor for each player.
The Hawks rolled up 505 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns behind the offensive front.
Shorter’s four first half rushing TDs covered 91, 84, 66 and 42 yards while the 505 rushing yards was the third-highest total in school history.
With one regular season game remaining in 2011, Shorter is ranked No. 3 in the NAIA in rushing offense per game (273.9) and fifth in total rushing offense (2,465).
The Hawks averaged 11 yards per carry in the win over Union and had 323 yards rushing at halftime to reach the 500-yard plateau for the third time in school history.
Shorter closes out the regular season Saturday as it plays host to 14th-ranked Bethel University with a potential conference championship on the line.
Should the Hawks emerge victorious and Cumberlands (Ky.) upsets No. 20 Cumberland (Tenn.), Shorter would claim a share of the Mid-South Conference West Division championship and have the potential of earning the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Football Championship Series.
